Disneyland

We spent 6 awesome days in the Happiest Place on Earth. Maya was so excited in the weeks leading up to our trip and spent her time talking about the rides we would go on and the characters she would meet. We flew down on a Sunday morning with my parents, my sister and my niece Charissa. Down there we met up with Chris' brother, sister in law, and niece. We all stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for even more Disney fun!! The girls are awesome fliers at this point. Maya has always been a great flier and Charissa has come so far from her first flight where she cried basically the entire flight (oh and she puked on the flight home...good times!). Owen did great though he really wanted down to crawl. Our biggest airport challenge was definitely getting everything we needed through security and not getting too flustered. Sheesh!

Some of our highlights included dinner at Goofy's Kitchen where we got to meet Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, Chip, and Alice among others (Owen, by the way, loved Alice...crush???).

We also took the girls to the Bippity Boppity Boutique where they got princess make overs from their Fairy God Mother which included shimmery makeup, hair styles, sashes and face jewels. They each even picked a different princess to dress up as. We then we went to Ariel's Grotto where we had lunch and met Ariel, Mulan, Snow White, and a few others. The girls were in princess heaven!

Maya was such a brave girl and had her first ride on Splash Mountain (she even chose to go on it a second time) as well as the Go Go Coaster. We also discovered she was the tallest of the three cousins. Even more funny was that as we got to the front of the line for Splash Mountain she was the only one singled out to have her height checked again. The height minimum is 40 inches and she is just over 41. We kept trying to find a time for her to try out the Matterhorn but we couldn't seem to find a time during daylight. Next time though. Another first was Soarin' Over California which she loved! It was such much fun watching her glowing smile. Maya's favorite rides included Casey Junior's Train, Storybook Land Boats, Alice in Wonderland, Splash Mountain and the Tea Cups.

Owen got in on the ride action going on most of the kiddo rides, not really to sure what to think though he never cried. He was such a trooper!

Our biggest trial was that both kids got the sniffles while we were there and Maya got a rash from the sunscreen (I think!). It wasn't anything too awful though Maya's stuck around for 2 1/2 weeks and she ended up needed antibiotics for a sinus infection. The second downfall was Owen's early rising. I had hoped he'd be so tired he'd sleep in but he was up at 6 a.m. every day which required me to hang out in the lobby to give Maya a bit more sleep. That too will be a funny memory to look back on though not especially enjoyable to chill in my jammies in the lobby!

We all had so much fun with everybody. Though it was Maya's 3rd trip to Disneyland it was a completely different trip than the other two. As a baby she just took in the sights. As a two year old she became fascinated with the princesses and fairies though she was still a little leery. As a three year old she was ready to take on more, talk to the princesses as well as the fairies and ride some big kid rides. She is so darn tall that even sometimes I forget she is just barely three but she is such a big girl!

We love Disneyland and I can't wait to plan our next trip!

Stink Eye

So it's not really the stink eye...it's really the reaction to chewing on Cally's ear...eeewww!

Maya's Birthday

Maya came down on her birthday to the living room decorated with purple and white streamers as well as a giant frog balloon and a giant Ariel ballon. She is still waking up in this picture and trying to figure out what's up! She was so excited in the days leading up to her birthday.

For her birthday we gave her a Leap Frog Tag Reader with 3 books.

She also received a Hungry Hippo game 'from' Owen.

For her birthday party we went to Pump It Up (a bouncey house facility) where we jumped then had lunch and cake with all sorts of her favorite people. Here is Maya anxiously waiting for our guests.

Here is Maya with her Tiana cake and two of her favorite people: her cousin Charissa and her friend Emilie.

Standing Tall

Owen has been pulling himself up on EVERYTHING for almost a month. He is so darn proud of himself and it has reminded me how unbaby proofed we had become. I just love that when I go in to get him in the morning he's bee bopping up and down excited to see me, reaching his arms out to be picked up. He is such a happy baby and pretty easy natured. I was telling Maya today that we were going to need to help Owen learn how to talk. It's a little ways out (he just turned 9 months this week) but she started by trying to teach him the word 'bird.' She even insisted he was trying to say it but it was very hard for him. She and I spent the day telling him the names of things he was playing with or looking at. She really is a good big sister.

If I Were a Human Being!

Maya loves the music from The Princess and the Frog. We listen to it either on my IPOD or on our stereo at least twice a day (usually more, lol). Maya especially loves the song If I Were a Human Being by Louis the alligator. In the song there are three characters singing: Louis, Prince Naveen & Tiana. One day as we were listening to the music she decided that I was Louis, Chris was Naveen and she, of course, was Tiana. She then told us we were to dance 'our parts'. During each persons turn the others were to sit on the couch and clap and cheer for the dancer. It's pretty amusing but it makes her smile and laugh. Owen even gets in on the bouncing (he's Ray, by the way). Maya knows every song on the CD and most of the words too. I would post pictures but you really don't want to see me getting my groove on. Maya's love for music is so awesome.

I am a Carpenter too

The other night Maya and I were watching part of Alice in Wonderland (where Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb are telling the story about the Walrus, the Carpenter and the Oysters) when we had this conversation:
Maya: "Who's that man?"
Me: "He's the carpenter. A carpenter makes things out of wood."
Maya:"hmmmmmmm."
pause....
Maya: "Like I am a Carpenter too?

Oh love that girl!

Disneyland

It's official, we told Maya this morning that we are going to Disneyland. I made her a countdown calendar to keep track of the days until our trip as well as her birthday which is the day before we leave. She was so excited and had fun looking at all the stickers on the calendar. I do have to say she spotted it last night in my closet and threw a fit when I told her it was for after we get out of bed (today). I did end up showing her the Cheshire Cat because she was so insistent and is loving Alice right now. Here is a picture of her explaining the calendar and arrow to Owen as well as a picture of our calendar.

Easter Parade

Today we went to an Easter Parade in Snohomish with our friends and family. It was a surprisingly great parade, however, it was so cold!!! The girls also were not a big fan of the Seafair Pirates, as you can see by the covered ears but enjoyed all sorts of floats, 'princesses', horses, and even a few goats and lamas!

I'm an Easter Egg

Our adventures in egg coloring this year involved Maya deciding she was an Easter egg! We had fun coloring, then painting and applying some stickers and even giving one lucky egg a crown. It took a very long soak to dull the color on her Easter egg hands. Owen had fun watching and riding around on Chris' shoulders.
