Do I have something on my nose?

I was cleaning up our dinner dishes while Owen finished eating a few yogurt melts and looked over to see the little guy completely oblivious to the fact there was one stuck to his nose.

"It's Like Tiana"

Maya disappeared only to resurface with some very bright pink lipstick on her 'lips.' I purchased the bright pink lipstick a month ago for a theme party we had here and it was still in my makeup case. Maya has a clear lip gloss she can use in there and must have run across the lipstick in her search. When Chris asked her what she was doing she said, "It's like Tiana." A few days later we were watching The Princess and the Frog only to have her point out where it does look like Tiana has very bright pink lipstick on.

Woody

Maya came upstairs to get me so I could see Woody. I was busy sorting my giant pile of laundry and came down to see what she was so excited about. She had put Woody (from Toy Story 2) up on the top shelf. She explained that it was just like the movie when Woody's arm rips and he doesn't get to go to Cowboy Camp with Andy. Maya went on to tell me how sad Woody was up there. Poor Woody!

He's Crawling!

I was convinced that perhaps Owen would not crawl. He had mastered a rather efficient wiggle/roll/military crawl thing and I thought perhaps he was satisfied with that. Then...he crawled. Now he is in to everything!

The Beach

We spent a BEAUTIFUL March afternoon at Kayak point with some great friends. The girls ran around in the water, helped some boys build a moat/river, and played with all sorts of beach toys while the little boys played on the towels. They had a blast and I was in heaven at our luck to enjoy this beautiful day at the beach!

It's a Show!

Today Maya told me to take my seat because the show was about to start. I was a bit puzzled because I had been sitting on the floor playing with Owen while she was playing with her music box next to us. Owen and I took our seats and she stood in front of the fire place and said "The show is about to begin. Tinkerbell is about to come. Her friends Silvermist, Terrance and Rosetta are about to come. Tinkerbell will be a show. First we have to wait for the flowers to grow." I was trying not to giggle as she spoke really loudly and inadvertently rhymed. She then walked behind the couch Owen and I were sitting on and said "clap mommy." So we did. She did this a few more times then we pretended to watch the giant flowers grow in our living room. Love the creativity. We go to a children's show called Cyndi Soup and the Thumbs Up Puppeteers at a theater in Snohomish the last Friday of each month which she loves! I think she was trying to emulate it.

Marriage...part 2

So back to marriage. Maya is still fascinated with the whole idea and the process of having a wedding and being married. Today during lunch she told me (again) that she is going to marry daddy. I asked her who I would be married to if she was married to daddy and she told me I would marry Uncle Jer (Chris' brother). So I asked who Aunt Trish would marry if I was married to Uncle Jer and she decided on Owen. Sounds a bit incestual (don't think that's a word.). At least she found someone for each of us! Silly girl.

5:01 a.m.

This morning Owen decided to make his presence known at 5:01 a.m. He is an early bird but this is super duper early for even him. He more of a 6 a.m. waker. Ugh, too bad I'm not. I listened to him talk to himself and fuss off and on for about 30 minutes until my luck ran out and Maya woke up. I went and laid with her for a few until he got really worked up. I tucked Maya back in and went into his pitch black room only to feel around the bed for him and find him sitting up. Poor kid got hit in the face while I was trying to find him. I think he sat himself up and couldn't figure out how to lay back down and tuck himself in. Funny, but not. I ended up rocking him so he would relax and then he slept til almost 7. I've only caught the end of him pushing himself up from his belly to his booty once but he's now done it twice in his crib. I'm hoping he gets over the excitement of the triumph soon so he's not doing it before the sun has come up any more.

Music Class

Today we had our last music class...ever. I signed Maya up for a Musicgarten class when she was 8 months old and we have pretty much attended class every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. ever since. Maya loves music and learned so many songs in the class and really, until recently, looked forward to going. She loved participating in everything and came away having learned all sorts of great music related skills. She amazes me with how many songs she knows in their entirety. We decided at Christmas that we were going to narrow down the number of activities she was doing because she's interested in starting preschool next fall and the money expenditure was becoming too much. Instead she'll continue her dance class as well as swim lessons. We're also going to start attending a preschool play group on Wednesday mornings (basically a co-op group) at the preschool I'd like her to attend. I was a little sad only because this was really the first structured sort of activity we did together. She's ready to move on and really, I am too.

My Kids?

Today, after our music class, Maya asked if we could go to a restaurant. We don't often eat out nor does she really ever request to eat out so I indulged her idea. We went to Neapolis in Lake Stevens and ordered a cheese pizza and a Greek salad to share. I fed Owen while she drew a picture of her Minni Mouse she had brought in then she looked out the window next to our table and told me all about the different cars and people she could see. After we ate and paid the waitress came back over to tell me how well behaved my children were. It's one of those moments that you look around and say, yes, they were awesome today! It's nice when all the pieces fall in to place and we can have a fun lunch out at a restaurant where we can get food that's actually good for us.

"All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth.."

Two more teeth made their appearance today (the top front ones specifically). Too bad it was on top of an ookie wet cold Owen had already been battling! Poor guy had a runny nose, congestion, a wet cough and two teeth trying to push through. He spent the day well coated in Teething gel and Vicks as well as dosed up with Tylenol. Of course his humidifier is on full blast. When I walk in to his room it smells like a very damp hospital. Those two front teeth are a bugger! Will get a new 'teeth' picture up soon.

Moving and Shaking!

I set Owen in his crib on his booty this morning while I ran to the bathroom and came back to find him up on his knees chewing on the top rail of the crib. I set him back down on his booty to see if he'd do it again and sure enough he did! This time, however, he sat back down then did it again, then sat down then got up again...he continued this while I put his clean clothes away until Maya came in and decided to join him in the crib.
