Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon

This post is not about my kiddos or even me but my awesome sister who completed her second full Marathon! Woooo Hooo! Chris and I took Maya and my niece Charissa to stay at the Sheraton in downtown Seattle so we could cheer on my sister on Saturday morning as she ran the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon. The girls were awesome and had a blast swimming in the pool, pigging out on pizza and wandering Seattle to see Tori run and watch her awesome finish! Go Tori!!!

He's a Turkey!

Whenever Owen does something he really shouldn't we joke with Maya that he is a turkey! Today, our little turkey was showing his true colors.....

Children's Museum

It had been quite awhile since we had visited Imagine Children's Museum. Mostly I avoided it because the idea of Owen crawling around in there grossed me out. Plain and simple, I've become a slight germaphobe. I digress. We ventured out to let Owen check out the fun this afternoon and to burn off some energy.

Owen loved the trains.

Both kids had loads of fun playing in the freezing cold water.

Maya also had fun 'cooking' for us in the Italian restaurant.

So much fun!!!

Swim Lessons

Maya loves her swim lessons. She has gone from being apprehensive and not wanting to put her face in the water to jumping off the ledge, laying flat on her back, putting her whole head underwater and even paddling hard enough to keep her head above water without a life jacket. Here is a picture of her last lesson with 'the teacher with glasses' (as she liked to call her).

Beach Combing

We decided to take advantage of a low tide and take the kidlets to Mukilteo State Park to check out the beach with my sister, Tori, and niece Charissa. It was a little more chilly than we thought it would be but we found all sorts of starfish, muscles, barnacles and sea anemones. Poor Owen had just started to walk, however, but it was way too slippery and rocky for him to navigate so he ended up in the Ergo with watery eyes from the wind. He was, as always, a trooper!

Stepping On Out

Owen has been trying to find the courage (and the balance) to take some real first steps. He has been walking using anything still to walk for about a month or so. We've been waiting. During the past week we noticed that look in his face...wondering if he should try and trying to figure out exactly how to go about it. I was watching him tonight and called Chris over to try to get him to come to me. Sure enough, he took 3 solid steps!! Later tonight after I had him out of his bath I was sitting on the floor in his room while he rooted around in the bins under the changing table when he turned around, gave me a toothy grin and went about 4 or 5 steps to me. I have mixed feelings about his walking. I am so excited for him and for all of us .... this soggy weather has made it hard with a crawler so I'm excited to see him up and going for it. However, I also know that my baby is growing up way to fast and that time will not stand still long enough for me to enjoy more of my baby. Now I am on a mission to get it one video!!
